New Alfa Romeo MiTo TwinAir 105 PS model Alfa Romeo has boosted the output of the radical two cylinder TwinAir engine in the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=357720">Alfa Romeo MiTo TwinAir</a> by 20 PS, bringing it up to 105 PS (103.5 bhp/77kW) in total. The Lilliputian twin features multipoint fuel injection and turbocharging to achieve the relatively high power density of 120 PS per litre (118.3 bhp/litre; 88 kW/litre). Opel's new Country Tourer Insignia details revealed Opel has produced an Audi allroad rival in their new Insignia Country Tourer series. BMW i8 at Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 BMW's sleek 2+2 seater i8 plug-in hybrid sports car has made its long-awaited public début at the 2013 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. The first production BMW to feature a mid-engined layout since the fabled BMW M1, the i8 features a turbocharged 1.5 litre 3 cylinder and a secondary electric motor to provide limited electric-only propulsion. Mercedes-Benz Shows a Glimpse of S-Class Coupé Following the successful début of the latest S-Class saloons, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a concept at the 2013 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show that shows the design direction they are taking for the 2 door coupé version of their range-topping model. The <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=357203">Mercedes-Benz Concept S-Class Coupé</a>, to give it its full name, is just over 5 metres long at 5050 mm, and sits on a wheelbase of 2945 mm. Porsche Celebrates 50 Years of the 911 It was at the 1963 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show that Porsche's 911 was first introduced to the world. The original <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=99913">1963 Porsche 901</a> (later rebadged as 911) had a rear mounted air-cooled flat six of two litres capacity. Advertising change for uses Google's AdSense programme to deliver ads to readers. We do this in order to recoup costs of hosting and other overheads. Audi's Sport quattro Concept headed to Frankfurt To celebrate 30 years since the introduction of the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=26532">Audi Sport quattro</a> at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi will present a modern reinterpretation of the classic rally machine. More power, better handling for Bentley's V8 Continentals Bentley Motors have improved the performance of their V8 Continental models. Power from the 3993 cc V8 engine is up to 528 PS (389 kW) at 6000 rpm and torque is improved from 600 N·m to 680 N·m (502 lb·ft) at 1700 rpm. Hyundai Avante (Elantra) receives a facelift South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company has made some detail changes to their Avante range. The Avante is known in most markets outside of South Korea as the Elantra. Porsche's Diesel Panamera gets moar powa! The Diesel Panamera from Porsche just got a 50 PS power hike. Available from January 2014, the Panamera Diesel will produce 300 PS (221 kW) at 4000 rpm (250 PS/184 kW @ 3800-4400 rpm on the outgoing model) and 650 N·m (479 lb·ft) at 1750-2500 rpm. Toyota's Sai hybrid gets a nip and tuck Toyota's Sai hybrid vehicle has come in for some mid-life rejuvenation. The Sai is very closely related to the Lexus HS and is only sold in Japan. 2 litre tax break cars in Italy Following the 1973 OPEC Oil Crisis, countries the world over began trying ways of getting improved fuel economy from car manufacturers through legislation and taxes. Italy's solution was to impose punitive taxes on cars of over 2 litres in capacity. Specifications revealed for Infiniti's new Q50 mid-size offering Infiniti in the USA have released the specifications of the new Infiniti Q50 models. The Hong Kong-headquartered luxury brand that Nissan launched in 1989 has given the Q50 a striking new look to accompany its objective: to unseat the German triumvirate of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the mid-size segment of the market (Infiniti's other rival, Toyota's Lexus, is another leading protagonist in this area of the market, but is mentioned separately here so that I could use <i>triumvirate</i>). Nissan Revives Almera nameplate in South Africa <a href="">Nissan</a> has re-introduced the <a href="">Almera</a> nameplate to South Africa after a short absence. Ferrari 458 Speciale to debut at Frankfurt Motor Show in September <a href="">Ferrari</a> has announced the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine ever fitted to a standard production road car. The 4497 cc V8 of the <a href="">Ferrari 458 Speciale</a> produces 605 PS (597 old-fashioned brake horse power, or 445 kilowatts), which gives it a record-breaking 134.5 PS per litre. Find model codes Are you confused by BMW's E- and F-codes? Not sure what a W 212 or S 123 is? A number of these model series codes are contained in the database, and can be easily searched for in the search form at the top of every page. Ferrari's new 458 Italia Ferrari have released some details about their <a href="">F430</a> replacement, the <a href="">Ferrari 458 Italia</a>. The 458 Italia features direct petrol injection - the first such application in a mid-engined road car for Ferrari, and an enlarged 4499cc V8 that produces 570 PS (419 kW) at 9000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm, an impressive 127 PS/litre specific output. Porsche's 4 door Panamera specifications revealed The eagerly-anticipated Porsche Panamera specifications have been released in full. Audi RS6 Saloon The <a href="">Audi RS6 Avant</a> was launched some time ago already, and Audi have now released some details about the forthcoming <a href="">Audi RS6</a> saloon. The saloon shares the overall dimensions with the Avant - a 2846 mm wheelbase, 4928 mm length and 1889 mm width. New Lotus Evora Preliminary Specs The details of the new <a href="">Lotus Evora</a> have been released, albeit for the prototype version. Performance and consumption data are not yet known, although Lotus estimates a 257 km/h (160 mph) top speed and CO<sub>2</sub> emissions of under 255 g/km. The Phenomenal Lancia Stratos In the early seventies, Ferrari, Lancia and Bertone teamed up to create one of the greatest rally cars ever, the <a href="">Lancia Stratos</a>. The head of Lancia's competition division, Cesare Fiorio, was the driving force behind this project. Megane R26.R - hot hatch, Renault style The details of the latest front wheel drive rocket from Renault have been released. The <a href="">Renault Megane II Renault Sport R26.R</a>, to give it its full title, is based on the <a href="">Renault Megane II Renault Sport F1 Team R26</a>. 2010 Chevrolet Camaro details released Chevrolet have officially announced the specifications of their <a href="">2010 Chevrolet Camaro</a> models. Two engines are on offer initially, a 3.6 litre V6 with direct petrol injection and a pushrod overhead valve 6.2 litre V8. Porsche direct injection 911 Porsche have launched their first direct injection road car engines in the 997 911 model. The <a href="">Porsche 911 Carrera</a> and <a href="">Porsche 911 Carrera S</a> models are the first to benefit from the technology. Hammerzeit - 2008 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series The recently facelifted SL range from Mercedes-Benz has been given a new range-topper, in the form of a brutal AMG-tweaked 6.0 litre V12 biturbo <i>sledgehammer</i>, the <a href="">2008 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series</a>. Starting with the already powerful <a href="">2008 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG</a>, the twin turbochargers were given a new, wider cross-section and optimised wastegate ducts to up power, from 612 PS (450 kW) to a massive 670 PS (493 kW). New 5th generation BMW 7 Series launched BMW have announced the latest iteration of their flagship 7 Series range. This, the <a href="">5th 7 Series</a> generation, features three engine options and 2 body styles at launch. Alfa Romeo MiTo Specs Released Alfa Romeo have released the specifications of their <a href="http://search/results/?terms=2008+alfa+romeo+mito">MiTo</a> 3 door hatchback. 3 engine variants are on offer initially, a 1.6 turbodiesel, a 1.4 petrol turbo, and a normally aspirated 1.4 petrol. 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage improvements A host of changes have been announced for the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=178376">Aston Martin V8 Vantage</a> model and are scheduled to be available in showroom models sometime in the third quarter of 2008. Trident's diesel supercar The trend towards diesel seems to know no bounds. Mazda's 3 MPS One of the hottest hatches currently available has been launched by Mazda. Audi R8 - Paris Motorshow 2006 Audi have unveiled their stunning mid-engined supercar, the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=147466">Audi R8</a>, at the Paris Motorshow. Powered by the RS4's naturally-aspirated direct-injection 4.2-litre V8, Audi's first production mid-engined car hits 100km/h from rest in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of just over the 300km/h mark. Gorgeous Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione to be produced Alfa Romeo have announced very brief details of the stunning production version of the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=147114">8c Competizione</a>. It will feature a 450 PS 4.6-litre V8 engine. Opel Omega Evolution 500 Produced in very small numbers from 1991-1993, this rare car was built by Opel to challenge the BMW M3 Evolution and Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution DTM racers. A handful of the road-going <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=146674">Opel Omega Evolution 500</a> was produced. Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Mercedes-Benz have uprated their SLR supercar, and added a bit to the end of its name for good measure, to give us the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=145695">Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition</a>. Unfortunately the "722" in the name doesn't stand for the horsepower it produces, but refers rather to the starting time of the original 300 SLR on the 1955 Mille Miglia, famously won by Stirling Moss and the legendary motoring scribe Dennis Jenkinson. LMX Sirex A really pretty little coupe, the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=146124">LMX Sirex</a> was produced in small numbers by an outfit in Turin, Italy, called LMX. It had a 2.3 litre V6 Ford engine, mounted amidships, and produced 126 PS (93 kW) power and 187 Nm (138 lbft) torque. Buick's Wildest Wildcat Buick have used the "Wildcat" moniker on many concepts and production cars over the years, but few of them were as dramatic as the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=144815">1985 Buick Wildcat</a> concept. This Wildcat featured a 230bhp mid-mounted V-6 of 3.8 litres, based on the contemporary OHV 3.8 engine from GM, but with the help of McLaren Engines it was given twin overhead camshafts and a heap more power. 2 New Lotus models Lotus Cars have gone back to basics with two of their latest models. The <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=144782">Lotus Elise S</a> gets a Toyota 1.8 litre engine, good for 136 PS and a 5.8 second 0-60mph time. Mercedes-Benz AMG models Several new AMG Mercedes-Benz models have broken cover lately. The SLK 55 gets a power hike to 400 PS (up from 360) with the new <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=144540">Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Black Series</a>, which has a higher top speed than usual for a German car, not being limited to 250km/h but to 280km/h instead. Peugeot 908 RC V12 HDi Concept Peugeot have released details of their latest concept, the 4-door, V-12 <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=144760">908 RC</a>. It features a staggering 1200 Nm of torque and power of 700 PS. Entry-level Porsche Cayman Porsche's <a href="http://search/results/?terms=2005+cayman">Cayman S</a> has a new smaller sibling. The <a href="http://search/results/?terms=2006+cayman">Porsche Cayman</a> gets its 2.7-litre engine from the Boxster range, and in this application it produces 245 PS (that's 242 bhp or 180kW) at 6500 rpm with 273 Nm of torque from 4600 rpm to 6000 rpm. Volvo's first V8 saloon Volvo recently unveiled their first V8 saloon, the latest <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=140822">S80 4.4 V8</a>. A 32-valve, twin overhead cam V8 of 4.4 litres capacity endows the new super-Swede with power output of 315 PS and 439 Nm of torque. New big Mercedes-Benz coupes Mercedes-Benz recently launched their latest CL coupe range. Only 2 versions are offered initially, with an AMG version expected a little later. One-off Ferrari P4/5 Pininfarina was commissioned to build a spiritual successor to the immortal P3/4 by James Glickenhaus, a US businessman. The <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=144177">P4/5 </a>is based on the running gear of an Enzo, which means a mid-mounted V-12 with 660 PS. Tesla Roadster - electric sports car Tesla Motors, a high-tech startup from the USA, recently launched their laptop battery-powered <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=143671">Roadster</a>. With help from a number of outsourced companies, including Lotus, their 2-seater car should give a range of about 250 miles. The Z4 M sports a more aggressive body, and is slightly longer than the regular Z4 Coupé. Mazda Kabura Mazda's latest concept, the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=136356">Kabura</a>, is an amazingly pretty little coupe. Powered by the 2-litre twin cam engine from the latest generation of <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=126269">MX-5</a>, the little (4050 mm long) sportscar should be able to perform at least as well as it looks. Nissan's whimsical quartet <a href="http://specifications/models/?man=4444">Nissan</a> showed a surprisingly playful and humourous side at the end of the eighties and beginning of the nineties. Prodrive shows P2 Coupe Prodrive, more known for their work on Subarus and for campaigning a Ferrari 550 in races has previewed a concept coupe called the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=136345">P2</a>. Designed by Peter Stevens - whose portfiolio includes the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=7755">Jaguar XJR-15</a>, <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=41393">McLaren F1</a> and the M100 <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=33286">Lotus Elan</a>, the car features a flat four Subaru engine, suitably breathed on by Prodrive to produce nearly 350 PS, all-wheel drive, and a length of under 4 metres. Chrysler Rolls out new concept Chrysler has unveiled their <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=136389">Imperial</a> concept car. Looking more than a little like a Rolls-Royce Phantom, it is based on the same platform as the 300C. New Lamborghini-powered Audi S8 Audi have released their latest <a href="">S8 </a> variant. This time, it's powered by a direct-injection petrol version of the Lamborghini Gallardo power plant, taken out to 5.2 litres. Bugatti Veyron final specs Bugatti have released what is likely to be the final specifications of their mega-uber-ultra-hyper-supercar, the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=135476">Veyron</a>. It appears as if the "EB" prefix has officially disappeared, the Veyron's name shortened to "Bugatti Veyron 16/4" - previous prototypes have been known as "<a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=91300">Bugatti EB 16/4 Veyron</a>" and "<a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=102993">Bugatti EB 18/4 Veyron</a>". BMW M3 GT E36 In 1995, BMW produced a very special version of the E36 M3, and called it the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=133716">M3 GT</a>. Producing slightly more power than standard, and with suspension tweaks and other modifications, this M3 GT was a precursor to the hallowed M3 CSL of today. Citroen C6 models Citroen's new flagship C6 models have been added to our database. The C6 is a beautiful and distinctive car, with echoes of the great DS "goddess" as well as the idiosyncratic CX series. BMW Z4 M and Z4 model range changes BMW have released the new <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=133694">Z4 M Roadster</a>. Featuring slightly modified bodywork and the engine from the M3, with 343 PS. Volkswagen's EcoRacer Volkswagen surprised most people at this year's Tokyo Motor Show by presenting a concept sports car with a twist. The <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=133969">Volkswagen EcoRacer</a> is mid-engined, small, lightweight and - here's the twist - powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine. Ford Focus ST The specifications of the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=132693">Ford Focus ST</a> have been published. A Volvo-sourced 5-cylinder engine provides ample oomph for the fast Ford. Grande Fiat Fiat have released the specifications of their spanking new <a href="http://search/results/?terms=2005+grande+punto">Grande Punto range</a>. It looks fantastic - sort of like a mini-Maserati from the front, and pert and cheeky from most other angles. Both super- and turbocharging Not many cars have had both a supercharger and a turbocharger at the same time. Porsche Lightweight In 1993, Porsche released a special edition 911 in the USA. Built to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the legendary <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=990">1973 911 RS</a>, this lightweight special was produced in conjuction with the Porsche Club of the USA. New Audi A8 models Audi have released the most powerful production car diesel engine ever. The latest A8, the <a href="http://specifications/models/car/?car=129822&Audi">A8 4.2 TDI</a>, features a 4.1 litre V8 diesel, with common-rail injection and 326 PS (322 bhp) at just 3750 rpm. Renault's new Clio III unveiled The newest <a href="http://specifications/models/?man=5406">Renault</a> <a href="http://search/results/?terms=2005+clio+iii">Clio</a> has been launched. The range features 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 litre petrol engines, and a range of 1.5 diesel engines. Alfa Romeo 159 Alfa Romeo have released final specs for the <a href="">new 159<a/>, replacement for the <a href="">156</a>. Featuring a slightly longer body (+105 mm in wheelbase, +225 mm in length), the 159 loses the concealed rear door handles that set such a trend with designers currently. Mercedes-Benz Bionic Car Concept Mercedes-Benz engineers have taken a leaf out of Luigi Colani's book, and designed a car taking inspiration from nature. Inspired by the boxfish - a particularly ugly species of tropical fish - Stuttgart's boffins have produced a particularly ugly, boxy car, the <a href="http://specifications/models/id/?id=128634">Mercedes-Benz Bionic Concept</a>. Mercedes-Benz E 420 CDI - Heavyweight diesel <a href="http://specifications/models/?man=3932">Mercedes-Benz</a> has released their hardest-hitting passenger car diesel ever. The <a href="http://specifications/models/id/?id=128458">E 420 CDI</a> features a 75 degree V-8 engine packing 310 bhp (314 PS) and a stonking 730 nm of torque at 2200 rpm. Fearsome TVR Sagaris eBay UK have a listing for a grey <a href="" target="_blank">TVR Sagaris</a>. Looks lovely, and as the <a href="http://specifications/models/id/?id=120208">specs</a> show, it should be a fantastic performer! 0-100mph in 8.3 seconds, and a top speed of 300 km/h guarantee a bang-for-buck that is amazing. Mad, bad, 350 km/h Maybach Maybach, in conjuction with Fulda, a German tyre manufacturer, have produced a mobile test-bed for a new high-performance tyre. The incredible Maybach Exelero is massive, powerful, fast and menacing. Bugatti Veyron tops 400 km/h Bugatti's <a href="http://specifications/models/id/?id=91300">Veyron</a> has officially topped 400 km/h - a new production car record, when the big Bug eventually finds itself on a production line later this year. This is just months after Koenigsegg's <a href="http://specifications/models/id/?id=119306">CCR</a> managed a new production car record of 387 km/h. Andre V6, 1934 Martyn Davies was kind enough to send in a picture of an <a href="http://specifications/models/id/?id=13574">Andre V6</a> which had been in his family a few years back. A bit of research into the Andre V6 showed that only 6 were ever built, and that it was a very promising roadster with a 2 cylinder JAP engine. New Renault Laguna range Renault's new <a href="http://search/results/?terms=2005+renauls+laguna">2005 Laguna Range</a> has been added to the database. Engines range from 1.6 litre to 3.0 V6 petrol, and there are 1.9 and 2.2 litre diesels. 6-cylinder 1-Series from BMW The first 6-cylinder 1-series specification has been released. A 3.5 litre straight 6 engine powered this Giugiaro-styled mid-engined supercar of its day to a top speed of around 270 km/h. Mercedes-Benz SL & E-Class Estate Mercedes-Benz has debuted a few new models, the SL 600 and the SL 350 join the SL range, and the new E-Class estate.
